Its been a changeling spring for farmers and growers with cooler than average temperatures. At our new farm I have been busy preparing and planting beds for medicinal herbs. It’s a permanent bed system so making the beds is a one time task. As it’s a new farm which was previously under conventional management, it will take some time to restore structure and biology to the soil. Practices such as inoculating seed, mulching and under sowing plants with clover are being used to speed up this process.
About 30 different medicinal herbs are being grown, some of which include, Valerian, Echinacea, Chamomile, Hyssop, Hypericum and more. As its my first time growing some of these here I’m very much looking forward to getting to know them as they grow.
