On the 23rd of June, St. John’s eve, we celebrated our midsummers festival at Ériu farm with the traditional bonfire and barbecue, a puppet show by Tonnie, Aline and Isabel and lots of music and singing. Some went into the river for a dip on this lovely warm day. There was lots of chatting, laughing, getting to know new faces and catching up with old friends.
We see the celebration of festivals as a very important contribution to our health and wellbeing. For children and adults is gives rhythm and orientation in the year, connection to each other and to the world, awareness and gratitude for the beauty and meaning of the seasons, nature and all that lives. It refreshes our energy and love for our day to day tasks.
