On the 2nd of February we celebrated our first Candlemas on Ériu Farm.
In the morning we melted left-over wax and made earth candles. In the evening, under a beautiful sunset, we met again to place the candles on a few sites around the farm that we felt needed the light: on the highest point of the land, in the future garden, future cow barn and future farm house, the future medicinal herb garden, future therapy building etc.
We ended the celebration with a shadow puppet play and a wonderful starry sky.
Candlemas is an ancient festival which really connects nature and culture in a beautiful way.
